Q:Yo, why'd you remove the Firefox extension? Now what the hell are we supposed to do on Windows? Install the deprecated garbage that is Safari?
I’ve decided to put my effort into other projects. As I’m no longer developing or supporting the extension I think it would have been misleading to leave it enabled on Mozilla Add-ons.
Unfortunately I don’t know of any alternatives. If anyone has one please let me know.
dns-sd url launcher for mac
This post was contributed by Paul Thexton. Thanks for sharing this neat trick Paul :)
This is really quite simple to do.
Open the AppleScript Editor and in the edit window type
open location (choose URL showing(“_http._tcp”) without editable URL)
Compile & then run the script to make sure it runs, then do File->Save, Choose “Application” from the file format dropdown box and give your application any name you please.
You now have a runnable website launcher (which will launch in whatever your default browser is on your mac) using dns-sd.
(Hint: while the selection dialog is open, you can option+click on the app in the dock and choose options->keep in dock.)
